Saguaro Barefoot Shoes Review: Go I & Smart II for Moms Who Move

Disclosure: Products featured in this post were gifted to me at no cost so I could experience them firsthand. As always, I share only my honest thoughts and experiences, from my home to yours.

I’ve been trying out two pairs of Saguaro barefoot shoes recently—the Go I and the Smart II—and both ended up surprising me.

The Go I is a step-in shoe that’s incredibly convenient when your hands are full (which, as a mom, happens often), while the Smart II is an affordable workout shoe that makes barefoot footwear more accessible for anyone curious about trying it.

Both pairs check the barefoot shoe boxes I care about: wide toe boxes, flexible soles, and lightweight designs that allow your feet to move naturally.

If you’re new to barefoot footwear and wondering what actually makes a shoe “barefoot,” I break it all down in my guide to what barefoot shoes are and the truth about natural footwear.

Saguaro Go I: A Surprisingly Practical Step-In Shoe

The Go I quickly became the pair I reach for when we’re heading outside and I just want something simple.

The step-in design is genuinely so convenient. When you’re carrying a baby or have your arms full, not having to deal with laces is a small thing that ends up making a big difference.

What I didn’t expect is that the convenience wouldn’t come at the expense of good barefoot design. The toe box has plenty of space for your toes to spread naturally, which is one of the biggest things I look for in a shoe now. After spending years in conventional shoes that squeeze the front of your foot, that extra room makes a noticeable difference.

The sole is flexible and lightweight as well, so your feet can actually move the way they’re meant to instead of being held stiff by thick cushioning. It’s the kind of flexibility that lets your feet stay engaged when you’re walking, which is one of the reasons many people are drawn to barefoot-style footwear in the first place.

They’re also surprisingly breathable and comfortable for longer walks. Most of our days involve plenty of time outside—walks, time in the yard, trips to the park—and these have handled that kind of everyday movement really well.

And…they’re actually really cute. The design is simple and minimal, which makes them easy to wear with everyday outfits. I’m usually pretty monotone with what I wear, so I appreciate when shoes feel effortless.

I went into trying these expecting them to be fine, but they ended up being a pair that quietly earned their place in my routine.

Saguaro Smart II: A Fun and Affordable Barefoot Workout Shoe

The Smart II are more of a lightweight workout shoe, but they work just as well for casual everyday wear.

One thing I appreciate about this pair is the price point. Barefoot shoes can sometimes feel like a big investment if you’re just starting out, so it’s nice to see a brand offering something more affordable while still sticking to the basic barefoot principles.

The Smart II still has the wide toe box and flexible sole that allow your feet to move naturally. They’re lightweight and breathable, which makes them comfortable for walks, workouts, or just being out and about.

They also come in a mix of simple colors and some fun patterns. I chose the rose red pair, which felt a little outside my normal style but in a good way. Since most of my wardrobe leans toward neutral tones, it’s kind of fun having a pair of shoes that adds a little personality without feeling over the top.

They’re playful, comfortable, and easy to wear—exactly the kind of shoe that makes barefoot footwear feel approachable.

A Good Option If You’re Curious About Barefoot Shoes

If you’re new to barefoot footwear, both of these Saguaro styles feel like really approachable options.

The Go I is practical and convenient in a way that works well for everyday life, especially if you like the idea of a step-in shoe that still allows your feet to move naturally.

The Smart II is a great option if you’re looking for a more affordable barefoot workout shoe or just want something lightweight for walks and casual wear.

Both pairs feel simple, comfortable, and easy to wear, which is exactly what I want in a shoe I’ll actually reach for.

Final Thoughts

Both the Saguaro Go I and Smart II ended up being pleasant surprises.

The Go I has that easy step-in convenience that’s genuinely helpful on busy days, while still keeping the wide toe box and flexibility that barefoot shoes are known for. They’ve quickly become one of my favorite pairs in my closet.

The Smart II brings a lighter, more athletic option to the mix, and the accessible price point makes it a great entry into barefoot footwear for anyone who’s curious but not quite ready to commit to a more expensive pair.

They’re comfortable, practical, and easy to wear—the kind of shoes you actually reach for.
